24. Set a Reading Goal
I started reading when I was in Grade School. I started reading Archie & Friends and eventually started reading Love Stories for Young Adults Series by Janet Quin-Harkin when I was in 5th Grade. I fell in love with Nicholas Sparks’ books, and A Walk to Remember became my ultimate favourite book of all time.
It got my love for reading and books from my grandparentson both sides. I remember they have bookcases full of classic books and encyclopedias.
What I love about reading is that it helps me grow as a person, it widens my vocabulary, it helps me to better understand life, and it affects my personal views about life. After I read a book, it feels like I am a new person and I gained new experiences. I love the feeling of being lost in a good book and not caring about what’s happening in reality.
I started setting reading goals in 2011 using Goodreads. I love reading contemporary and young adult books now. Aside from Nicholas Sparks’ books, the following are my personal favourites:
- Tuesdays with Morrie – Mitch Albom
- Twilight Series – Stephenie Meyer
- Pretty Little Liars – Sara Shepard
- The Lying Game – Sara Shepard
- Thirteen Reasons Why – Jay Asher
- The Hunger Games – Suzanne Collins
- Flipped – Wendelin Van Draanen
- The Da Vinci Code – Dan Brown
- Love Bones – Alice Sebold
- Looking for Alaska – John Green
- Amanda Knox
- If I Stay and Where She Went – Gayle Forman
- Eleanor & Park – Rainbow Rowell
- The Legend Series – Marie Lu
- Wonder – EJ Palacio
- The Last Time We Say Goodbye – Cynthia Rand
- All The Bright Places – Jennifer Niven
- Sarah Dessen Books
- P.S. I Love You – Barbara Conklin
- Falling In Love Again – Barbara Conklin
“So many books, so little time”, yeah?
