05. Start a Pandora Charm Collection

FullSizeRender (1)Growing up, I was fascinated by cute things, and I’ve had a collection of stationery since I was really into writing when I was in grade school.

I was also collecting magazines and song hits, slum books, letters and diaries or journals, which I still keep up to now.

Now that I am older, I have started to collect key chains from different countries. Initially, I wanted to collect key chains from the countries that I have been however, most of the key chains I have now were given by friends.

Before my birthday, I already made a list of things that I want to do before my 30th and having a Pandora bracelet was one of them. So, I have finally decided to start a collection of charms which I will buy from the countries I have visited and will visit in the future.

My first Pandora bracelet. 03/05/16

So, I bought my first ever Pandora bracelet last March 5, 2016, with a pavé heart clasp, which symbolises love, emotion – the seat of the human soul. This is my gift to myself for being hardworking over the past 3 years in Dubai. :p

I have been to Singapore in 2013 and 2014, and I will be going back this year, so that’s gonna be the second charm I will have.

What’s the first? Well, I have just gotten my South Korean visa (the details will be in a different post), and I want to have the first charm from that country.

I am very excited to new charms that I’ll be having in the future, which will remind me of the memories that I have in every country that I have visited and will visit one day.

First Charm bought in South Korea. 05/23/16

On May 23, 2016, I finally bought my first charm in South Korea. Yaaaay!!! I bought the heart lock and key charm to symbolise the promise I made to myself that I will always love myself more than anything, that I will stay strong despite all the hardships and challenges that will come my way, and I promise to continue learning and to be a better person as I grow older. The lock and key charm also symbolises my treasured love for South Korea. I wanted to leave something behind in South Korea, so I locked a padlock in N Seoul Tower during my visit in May, 2016.

My next stop was Singapore – the country which I have visited a couple of times already, so I have decided to purchase my second charm from that country since technically, Singapore is the first foreign country I have set foot in for the past 29 years.

Moon and Star on the other side.

I chose the charm that has the sun on one side and stars and the moon on the other. This has no relevant connection with Singapore, though, but I am a believer of signs, wishes, fate, destiny, the universe and all that stuff.

The sun symbolises reasoning, justice, will, and energy. It’s also seen as a life-giver.

The moon, on the other hand, represents renovation and resurrection, due to the lunar phases in which the Moon evolves. It is identified as the medium between the sky and the earth. The moon is also related to the unconscious, to mystery, and is often connected with magic and fantasy.

The star, my favourite, by the way, is associated with the comical order and destiny. So, now, I have the universe in my arms. 🙂

I cannot wait for new trips in the future so I can buy new charms as well. This is addictive!

July 2017:

After I bought my 3rd charm, number 8, which is my birthday, I lost the bracelet. I was so devastated and I cried for like 2 weeks. A lot of things happened to me since I had that bracelet. I bought a new one and my boyfriend bought me my first charm for the second bracelet,t but it does not feel the same. 🙁

Thank you for taking the time to read this post. Stay tuned for more updates!
